Barbara Walters, legendary journalist and trailblazer, has passed away

Barbara Walters, a broadcast legend and pioneer who became the first woman to co-host a morning and evening newscast, died at age 93, on Friday, December 30th at her home in New York City, surrounded by family.

The TV legend had been battling ill health for some years now and receded from public view the past several years, opting to live a private life.

She hadn’t been seen out and about since 2016.

She started her broadcasting career in the 50s and came into prominence in the 60s when she covered the assassination of JFK in 1963.
