NLC Demands Immediate Reversal of Petrol Price Hike Amid Fuel Scarcity

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), led by President Joe Ajaero, has demanded an immediate reversal of the recent petrol price hike by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The NNPCL has reportedly raised the pump price from ₦568 to as high as ₦897 per litre, worsening the plight of Nigerians amid ongoing fuel scarcity.

Ajaero has accused the Federal Government of betraying the labour movement and criticized its policies, which he described as traumatic and insincere. He also called for the release of individuals arrested during recent protests, a halt to indiscriminate detentions, a reversal of the 250% electricity tariff hike, and an end to oppressive government policies.

Ajaero expressed regret over broken promises regarding electricity tariff hikes and criticized the government’s approach to resolving the fuel subsidy issue, citing its negative impact on citizens and businesses.
