I killed my mom’s 62-yr-old boss after she caught me stealing her android phone — 18-yr-old boy

An 18-year-old boy, Mubarak Akadiri, has told a Magistrate Court in Akure, Ogun State, how he killed his mom’s boss, a 62-year-old retired head teacher, Mrs Sidikat Adamolekun.

The defendant said he attacked and killed the victim after she caught him stealing her android phone valued at N66,000.

He committed the hideous crime on Tuesday morning, November 14, 2023, at the victim’s residence in Simiileolowa Quarters, Arigidi Akoko.

Mubarak, who’s the son of the victim’s housemaid, said: “As usual, I went to the house to work and I later came back to steal her Samsung phone.

Unfortunately, the deceased caught me after I’d stolen the phone. So, she held me. In an attempt to escape, I used a wooden stool to hit her head, but the old woman kept shouting for help. Thereafter, I hit her repeatedly on the head until she fell and died.”

He was charged with a single count of m¥rder but his plea was not taken.

The police prosecutor, Simon Wada, urged the court to remand the defendant at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Magistrate Damilola Sekoni ordered Mubarak remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice. He thereby adjourned the case to March 15, 2024, for mentioning.
